Optical Fibre Cabling Course

2 day course

The Electrotech Skills Centre Optical Fibre Cabling Course provides the knowledge and skills to enable the delegate to design layout, installation, termination, splice and test Optical Fibre cabling to meet client needs and conform with relevant industry standards.

We provide hands-on termination using ST and SC connectors, plus splicing and testing of terminated and spliced cable

This course covers sufficient Optical Fibre transmission theory to ensure a clear understanding of the properties and applications of Optical Fibre.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Understand how light is propagated and transmitted by Optical Fibre Cable

Know the light sources used for Optical Fibre transmission

Understand the various types and uses of fibres

Know the various types of jointing and termination of Optical Fibre cables

Identify the different types of fibres available

Perform a fusion splice in fibre

Install a mechanical splice in fibre

Install connectors in various methods

Utilise various types of test equipment

Demonstrate safety requirements when working with Optical Fibre

Advance bookings are essential: Optical Fibre Cabling is a hands-on course. Class size is small so each delegate receives maximum training.

Payment is required two weeks in advance of course

Cancellation of booking less than 10 working days prior to starting date attracts a 50% administration charge.

No refund is payable for non-advice/non-attendance

Electro Skills reserves the right to cancel or alter course dates or venues. Delegates unable to attend the course may send another person in their place.
